  • 1/2 cup sour cream (room temperature)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and prepare three 6-inch cake pans with butter, flour, and parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together cake flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk, sour cream, and vanilla; set aside.
  4. Cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Gradually add egg whites until combined.
  5. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide batter among prepared pans and bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pans before transferring to wire racks.
