- 2–3 tbsp milk (to achieve desired consistency)
- A few drops of ivory or peach food coloring (for pale skin-tone effect)
- Candy fangs or small dots of vegan gelatin (for puncture marks)
- Red syrup or edible red gel (for “blood” drips)
- Straws (not edible)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla and red food coloring.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mix to the wet ingredients alternating with buttermilk until just combined.
- Stir in baking soda mixed with vinegar. Pour batter into muffin tins about two-thirds full and bake for 18-20 minutes.
- Let cupcakes cool before hollowing out centers using a small knife or cupcake corer. Fill with creamy mixture made from cake crumbs, sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, and red food coloring.
- Beat softened butter with powdered sugar until creamy for frosting; add milk for desired consistency.
- Frost cooled cupcakes and decorate with candy fangs and edible gel to create bite marks.
