- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar (divided)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 egg yolk
- 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper and spray with non-stick spray.
- Sift together flour, salt, and cocoa powder in a large bowl.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and canola oil with half of the sugar. Remove from heat once melted.
- In a large bowl, whisk together remaining sugar, eggs, and vanilla until combined. Gradually stir in the warm butter mixture.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and any optional add-ins) until evenly distributed.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for about 30 minutes (9-inch pan) or 40 minutes (8-inch pan).
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
