  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  2. Sift together flour, salt, and cocoa powder in a large bowl.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and canola oil with half of the sugar. Remove from heat once melted.

  6. Fold in chocolate chips (and any optional add-ins) until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for about 30 minutes (9-inch pan) or 40 minutes (8-inch pan).
  8. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
