Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare three 6-inch round baking pans.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together unsalted butter, caster sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add eggs one by one, beating well after each addition. Sift in flour, baking powder, and salt; mix in milk and sour cream until just combined.
- Divide batter into three bowls: color one with pink food gel for strawberry flavor; add cocoa powder to another for chocolate. Leave the third for vanilla.
- Pour batters into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
- For frosting, beat butter until smooth; gradually mix in icing sugar and milk until creamy.
- Level cooled cake layers and assemble with frosting between layers; cover the entire cake with remaining frosting.
