- 8 slices day-old brioche or challah bread
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Cut the bread into thick slices and arrange them in the baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread slices and press down gently.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove plastic wrap and sprinkle brown sugar over the top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and set in the middle. Serve warm.
