- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 1 tsp fine salt (for frosting)
- 8 cups powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream, room temperature
- Electric Green Gel Food Coloring
- Black Gel Food Coloring
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two round cake pans with parchment paper.
- Whisk together cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in one bowl.
- In another bowl, beat unsalted butter and sugar until fluffy; add eggs one at a time.
- Mix buttermilk and vegetable oil in a separate bowl; incorporate green gel food coloring.
- Combine all mixtures gradually until just blended.
- Divide batter into pans and bake for 28 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool cakes before frosting with cream cheese buttercream.
