Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the diced onion for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add minced garlic and garlic powder; cook for an additional minute. Stir in the orzo and toast for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden.
- Pour in the vegetable or chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer, add broccoli florets, cover, and cook for 8-10 minutes until the orzo is tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream and shredded cheddar cheese until combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, then serve warm with optional garnishes like extra cheese or freshly ground black pepper.
