Ingredients
- 3–4 lb beef brisket
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp chili powder (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the brisket and pat it dry.
- Mix salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and optional chili powder; rub over the brisket.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat; sear brisket on both sides until browned (about 4-5 minutes per side).
- Place seared brisket in a slow cooker; mix beef broth with barbecue sauce and pour over the meat.
- Add sliced onions and minced garlic on top; cook on low for 8-10 hours until tender.
- For finishing touches, melt butter with brown sugar and drippings in a saucepan; brush glaze over brisket before slicing.
