Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 275°F (140°C) if using that method.
- In a large oven-safe pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and brown the seasoned beef cubes on all sides; remove and set aside.
- Sauté the onion until tender, add garlic and tomato paste, cooking briefly.
- Deglaze the pan with vinegar or broth, scraping up browned bits.
- Add broth, crushed tomatoes, spices, and the browned beef to the pan; stir well.
- Choose your cooking method: stovetop (simmer for 2–4 hours), oven (bake for 2–4 hours), or slow cooker (8–10 hours on LOW or 4–6 hours on HIGH).
- When beef is tender, stir in orzo and cook until tender using your chosen method.
- Remove bay leaves before serving.
