Ingredients
- 1 pound thick-cut Turkey Bacon
- 1 large sweet onion (diced)
- 1 bell pepper (diced)
- 3 jalapeno peppers (diced, optional)
- 2 cans (28 oz each) beef and beans
- ¾ cup sweet BBQ sauce
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ tsp liquid smoke
- 1 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Dice the onion, bell pepper, and jalapenos (if using).
- Cut the Turkey Bacon into pieces and fry in a cast iron skillet until halfway cooked; drain on paper towels.
- Sauté the diced vegetables in the bacon grease for about 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Drain excess liquid from the cans of beans and combine them in a mixing bowl with sautéed vegetables, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, liquid smoke, and black pepper.
- Mix well and transfer to a casserole dish, topping with cooked Turkey Bacon.
- Bake for 1-2 hours until thickened; let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
